SPORTS SECTION

Football

TI reported that  teams remained near the top of their leagues with the 1st team 4th in the Division 1 Wessex league and the 2nd team top of combination division 2.  An application for football foundation funding was being sought for the next stage of the Arlebury Park development. The new stage plans would be reviewed at the next facilities committee meeting. 

TY reported that all juniors were sill in the Hampshire cup.  TY reported continual problems of glass on the pitch at Stratton Bates. Clerk to inform the Police. 

Stratton Bates Pavillion  

Due the next stage of the  development at Arlebury Park this project would be postponed until July.

Rugby

Chris Day reported that the club played two teams every week and that the Rugby club had a huge following.  The teams used the new changing/shower facilities and found them to be of a high standard.  The Committee would be giving the Rugby team a long term lease. Details of the CPO had been covered in the closed session.

 Tennis

Resolution: To accept the general terms of the lease. Proposed Cllr. Atkins  Seconded: Cllr.Middleton (AGREED) Date of lease commencement to be the completion of the project.  Payment for 2007/08 prior to commencement  of the lease to be pro-rata of the 2006/07 rate.  Lease to include sight of LTA insurance policy.

Cricket

AJ requested the use of Arlebury Park facilities for the 2007 season.  It was suggested that the Cricket club pay a fixed rate of £150 for the season.  AJ agreed.  Clerk to action.   AJ to forward fixtures to Clerk.

Resolution: To sell tichborne cricket club the cricket net for £550.

PARKS AND EQUIPMENT

Zurich Clerk to write informing Zurich of reported but unactioned play equipment

Play Equipment:  The  pod swing to be ordered for Sun Hill.  Play equipment engineer reported that the area at Stratton Bates was not big enough for a  Pod Swing.  Cllr. Cattle and Clerk to select an alternative item for Stratton Bates  (within the price range of the Pod Swing.)

Circus at Stratton Bates: Circus unable to pay more that £60 per performing day.  Clerk to write stating a cost of £250 for a 5 day period with a £250 bond against the site being left in its original condition.  NATC would also wish a site of their public liability insurance.

Wall at Arlebury Park

 Resolution: – To write to the owner whose structure abuts the wall informing them that no permission had been obtained for the erection of the structure. Proposed Cllr. Ingram Seconded Cllr. Middleton (AGREED).

Resolution: To accept liability for the repair of the NATC portion of the wall.

Proposed: Cllr. Orton  Seconded Cllr. Middleton (AGREED)

Car Park at Stratton Bates  Cllr. Orton reported that Barratts had agreed to develop a car park at Stratton Bates in lieu of parking rent. 

Resolution:- To allow use of existing site with minimum improvements until planning permission had been granted for the car parking  are to be development.  Access via the proposed new entrance would be prohibited until WCC had approved the plan.  If WCC refused planning permission the site to revert to its original condition.

FINANCE

The Recreation Committee were currently within their £24K budget 2006/7. 

Open Spaces There was £122.5k in the Open Spaces fund.  The fund was increasing to a level which would enable NATC to accomplish projected recreation plans.

 

TREE REGENERATION – Clerk to chase progress by mid February.

ARLEBURY PARK OFFICIAL OPENING – Opening date Saturday 10th March.  TI to inform Clerk of

Sports personality available to open the proceedings.  Clerk to check availability of Politician for opening.

Clerk pointed out that invitations could not be designed and dispatched until it was ascertained who was
