SPORTS SECTION

TI Snr. Football – Written report tabled . Received prize for most improved ground thanks to Sally Ramshaw. Dog fouling still an issue. KY advised had met with dog warden and he advised would tighten up patrols. Broken glass/bottles an issue. KY suggested locking gates at night – not practicable.

Junior football – goal posts will be down shortly will ensure down for 17th Watercress Festival.

TY Football - Alresford under 18’s have reached Southampton Youth League Cup Final. Match to take place at St Mary’s Stadium Southampton on Tuesday May 12th kick off 4pm. Reported a good season.

AJ Cricket  -   Discussed requested items as referred to in email sent by K Bristow (Item 8.4 on Agenda) TI confirmed that holes in ground and touch line trench were currently  being dealt with. The request for having the wicket rolled is to be left until spoken with Maintenance people. The outfield cut was discussed with P Bridges. RG confirmed that the cut is done fortnightly with provision for additional cuts during growing season, advised that all clubs do own maintenance.  AJ agreed with S Ramshaw ARC Manager doing the cricket teas. Arrangements for 20/20 match for John Arlott Plaque day is proceeding well

HO Rugby  - Advised no report however good season with an expanding group of players. Main issue from his committee was the CPO.  Rugby Club provides support for other organisation’s and events.  Difficult to hold on to 16-18 group in Alresford due to lack of pitch and are losing them to other towns Loss of 12 players because have no Junior Team.  Rugby Club is a valuable part of the social set up of Alresford desperately need the ground. Asked for dedicated group to drive this through does not feel they are moving forward looks to the committee for reassurances.

RG advised the issue had been the LDF over the last six months.  NATC batted with WCC against using the land for housing.  This has now been approved by WCC (10 days ago)

HO What can be done to drive forward.

RG NATC progress in parallel with land valuation – not yet received and requested likely legal costs  from WCC. How do NATC fund this, is Open Spaces fund, £140,000 enough – If not what support can be expected from Rugby Club.

HO Understood has valuation to be £110,000 is the value less now? If £100,000 leaves only £40K for legal fees which are likely to be horrendous.  If NATC can show projected short fall can then approach RFU and local sponsors. Can get interest free loan over 15 years from RFU cannot see this as much of a problem.  Rugby Club great value to ARC an Awards Dinner at ARC this Friday bringing about £1,200 to the Bar.

RG The area of land is a bit over 6 acres – lot of land for 2 pitches.  What size of pitch is wanted including ancillary bits. Clarify 4 or 6 acres this would have an effect on the cost price calculated per hectare.

HO will measure up next week and advise. RG has plan if required can be emailed

RG summarized NATC await all likely costs to be returned and if win CPO NATC must have budget in place

HO Asked to be kept updated of all progress re this issue.

RMcP Tennis The Tennis Lease finally signed however Planning Permission is needed for the pavilion.  Good performance by the players although the Ladies will be moving to 2nd Division.

SMcC Perins – Written report tabled – any questions none received.  SMcC talked through ’Healthier Families Morning’ to be held 28th June asked for clubs if interested in running their sport for the day.
